Abstract
Placing Refining LLC, in Port Allen, Louisiana uses pile cloth media filters for treatment of clarifier Belco Scrubber water and for tertiary treatment at the biological wastewater treatment facility. This technology has successfully met its purpose and has required little maintenance since it was first installed in 2009. Over the past three years, the filters have achieved 59% removal of TSS treating clarified Belco Scrubber water and 42% removal of TSS in tertiary wastewater treatment. More importantly, these filters routinely mitigate significant solids spikes coming from the clarifiers upstream ensuring that the facility consistently meets its discharge limits.
