The Water Environment Federation has released "Water and Wastewater Utilities and Data Centers: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)." To support proactive and constructive engagement with data center development, this set of FAQs was developed in response to common questions from water and wastewater utilities. The FAQs highlight how early coordination with data center developers can help utilities understand water use and wastewater characteristics, plan effectively for growth, and identify mutually beneficial solutions related to supply, infrastructure, and service terms. By providing clear, practical information in one place, the FAQs encourage informed dialogue, early planning, and partnerships that support reliable utility operations while enabling responsible data center growth.
