Study on Damage Mitigation Plan of Sewerage by Massive Earthquake and Tsunami Simulation Analysis
Abstract
The Japan Institute of Wastewater Engineering and Technology (JIWET) has conducted research on effective damage mitigation methods and detailed damage estimation using TSUNAMI SIMULATION ANALYSIS. The buildings in a wastewater system were reconstructed in a simulation. The wave force and flood depth acting on each building in the facilities were estimated quantitatively. The effective damage mitigation methods were examined from simulation analysis and field survey, and they were applied to the buildings, if needed, according to detailed damage estimation. The objective and basic policy of measures aim to protect HUMAN SAFETY and keep the BASIC FUNCTIONS. These measures include both hardware and software. To plan proper and economic measures, it is important to calculate the detailed flood depth by using the simulation analysis. The results of this study were adopted as the damage mitigation master plan by local governments.
