Effective Uses of Flow Monitoring and Hydraulic Modeling to Plan and Verify Sewer Improvements
Abstract
Analysis of flow data and application of hydraulic model are keys for sewer improvement planning and to verify the effectiveness of completed improvements. This paper presents three examples from a I/I study conducted for the City of Beacon, NY: 1) monitoring before and after interceptor cleaning, 2) identification of a structural compromise based on flow-monitoring data, and 3) RDII decomposition for I/I removal verification. For each example, flow metering and hydraulic model were utilized to approach each problem.
