MEMBRANE BIOREACTOR SURVEY FOR OPERATION OPTIMIZATION AND OPERATOR-FRIENDLY DESIGN
Abstract
One of the most innovative and promising treatment technologies in the wastewater industry is the membrane bioreactor (MBR) process. However, the operational issues associated with the process are not well understood by operators new to the process and engineers designing facilities. A survey of five membrane bioreactor wastewater treatment plants was performed to determine how facilities design could be improved to facilitate operation and how operation has been modified to improve process performance.
