Abstract
Permittees under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) must monitor and report the quality of their effluent on a regular basis. Because the system relies on selfmonitoring data, the permittees must certify their reports under penalty of perjury. The specific certification language is described in 40 CFR 122.22[d]:
