AN OVERVIEW OF PERFORMING AN SSES
Abstract
Initiated in the late 1960's and early 1970's the Sewer System Evaluation Survey has changed to its present format with the evolution of regulation, methodologies, procedures and equipment. Where early terms included I/I and gpcd, the more recent terms include SSO, CSO and CMOM. A recent study has projected 2004 sewer rehabilitation costs at 2.8 billion, significantly more than the funding allotted in the legislation that started the program. Have all these changes resulted in a better program? The paper will address the beginning and evolution of the SSES and present a “Back to Basics” approach to performing one.
