EVALUATION OF ON-LINE CHLORINE ANALYZERS FOR AUTOMATED CHLORINATION CONTROL
Abstract
Black & Veatch has performed an internal study of on-line chlorine analyzers to investigate analyzer reliability and to determine realistic maintenance requirements for keeping the analyzer mechanically in operation and calibrated. Five analyzers were loaned to Black & Veatch and installed at the Lawrence, Kansas, Wastewater Treatment Plant. Pretreatment of samples was also evaluated during the study to determine its reliability and maintenance needs. The study was conducted over a period of 50 days. This paper presents the findings of this field study and discusses process control issues related to automating chlorine feed systems.
