THE USE OF SOPHISTICATED ANALYSIS TOOLS TO DETERMINE COLLECTION SYSTEM CAPACITY AND TO PRIORITIZE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMS AT THE CITY OF FOLSOM
Abstract
In 2003, the City of Folsom completed a System-Wide Hydraulic Evaluation and Capacity Assurance Plan to identify, assess, and prioritize deficiencies within its collection system. Use of sophisticated analysis tools, including: permanent flow monitors throughout the system, Doppler radar enhancements of precipitation data, and the use of a system-wide dynamic flow routing hydraulic model, enhanced the determination of system needs for both existing and future conditions during projected large design storm conditions. These efforts helped to identify and prioritize capital improvement projects to effectively address deficiencies and better manage the City's collection system.
