BEST PERFORMANCE FROM YOUR SECONDARY CLARIFIERS FAIRFIELD SUISUN SEWER DISTRICT EXPERIENCE
Abstract
Mathematical modeling using the High Accuracy Clarifier Model (HACM) and field testing were applied to investigate the performance and determine the most cost effective modifications of the secondary clarifiers at Fairfield Suisun Sewer District. Simple structural modifications to the flocculation center well and effluent arrangements were identified, designed and constructed. A parallel comparison between modified and unmodified clarifiers was performed. Results of the parallel comparison indicated that the modified clarifier out perform the unmodified ones producing 40 percent less effluent suspended solids. Also, analysis of the historical data indicated significant reduction in secondary clarifier effluent suspended solids.
