Planning for Enhanced Asset Management in San Francisco
Abstract
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission's (SFPUC's) Wastewater Enterprise (WWE) is embarking on a long-term effort to improve the management of its wastewater assets. As a key step towards this goal, the WWE is developing an enterprise asset management framework and work plan for implementing improvements to its existing asset management activities. The development and implementation of an enhanced asset management program for the WWE represents one of ten focus areas defined in the current draft of the WWE Strategic Business Plan. This paper describes the collaborative five-step approach taken by the WWE to develop an Asset Management Program (AMP) Work Plan that builds on existing efforts underway by WWE staff and positions the WWE for implementation of asset management activities in accordance with industry best practices.
