Research Towards a Long-Term Restoration Plan for Sewage Pipe
Abstract
Since the continuing rapid deterioration of sewage pipes in each city in Japan is now a real concern for the future, the implementation of a restoration and renewal project has become a pressing requirement. Towards that end, a long-term restoration plan must be formulated which is efficient and also takes into account the cost and risks involved. In this research, in addition to video camera surveys, an impact elastic-wave inspection method survey was implemented to compute a prediction formula for the soundness rate with an improved accuracy. As a result, it was possible to set a target durable life of 66 years exceeding the Japanese standard service life of 50 years. From this, we were able to formulate a long-term restoration and renewal plan by setting a target durable life.
