Description: A one year demonstration of nutrient removal with Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor...
A one year demonstration of nutrient removal with Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor (MABR)
Abstract
A Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor (MABR) demonstration module (Figure 1) with a capacity to treat up to 1.75 m3/hr has been operating at a water resources recovery facility (WRRF) plant in Ontario, Canada, for the last nine months. The system is operated as a high loaded pre-treatment pure biofilm system. The OxyMem MABR uses gas permeable, silicone hollow fibres membranes as both a medium to supply oxygen for aerobic treatment as well as a surface for the growth of a biological film.
