Abstract
This paper presents smart energy and reclaimed water systems of Yokohama Hokubu Sewerage Center, comprising Hokubu Sludge Treatment Plant (capacity 12,500 m3/day (water content 99%); annual treated amount 2,660 thousand m3 (43,200 DSt, TS 1.62%)) and Hokubu-Daini Wastewater Treatment Plant (121 thousand capita served; capacity 162,600 m3/day; annual treated amount 39,705 m3). Hokubu Sewerage Center, with the scale merit of centralised sludge treatment system, has established smart energy and reclaimed water systems through facility maintenance and renovation, seeking for economic and social benefits. The main features are energy saving, energy recovery of digestion gas, integrated power system, Feed-in tariff, solar power generation and beneficial use of reclaimed water.
