Private Property Infiltration and Inflow Control
Abstract
In 2016 WEF issued a Special Publication entitled Private Property Infiltration and Inflow Control. The publication was developed by a Task Force chaired by Dr. Jane McLamarrah under the auspices of the WEF Collection System Committee and was designed to update a 1999 Monograph, Control of Infiltration and Inflow in Private Building Sewer Connections, which was published under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. As part of the update, the WEF Task Force distributed an internet survey to compile information on current practices related to private property infiltration and inflow (I/I) control. The survey results are included in the publication. The WEF Special Publication provides guidance on methods to identify, locate, and estimate the magnitude of private property I/I. Guidance is also provided on possible corrective action measures to control private property I/I. The Special Publication includes several examples and three case studies of private property programs. This presentation will summarize the survey and provide an overview of the key elements of the Special Publication.
