Effects of Novel Processes on Simultaneous Nutrient Removal in MBR Plant at Extreme Environmental Conditions
Abstract
This study investigates the pilot scale MBR performance for total nitrogen removal under aerobic mesophilic (36°C) conditions. The calculated stoichiometry for denitrification was compared to the overall nitrogen process performance data. Much higher denitrification performance was experimented compared to the stoichiometric calculation between COD and nitrogen. The difference can be explained by existence of novel organisms or SNdN process via nitrite that can contribute to the overall nitrogen removal of MBR system under elevated temperatures.
