City of Cincinnati Utilities Use Their New Blueprint For Success to Continue to Get Internal Buy-In When Making Changes
Abstract
The Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW, Department of Water) and the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati (MSD, Department of Sewers) have engaged employees in various ways over the years, particularly when making major changes. Two recent, very different situations have allowed the utilities to engage employees using the same process each time. A “building a house” analogy was used each time to outline the process and plan to involve employees in making changes throughout the organization. Two examples are explained below as employees were tasked with providing input and helping make change last throughout the organization.
