COMPREHENSIVE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR REHABILITATION PROGRAM PROVIDES DOCUMENTED 10-YEAR STORM PROTECTION
Abstract
The Rock River Water Reclamation District (District) implemented a phased multiyear program to mitigate basement backups after intense storm events in the Harrison Alpine service area. This program resulted in the identification and rehabilitation of both public and private sources of infiltration in the study area. Post rehabilitation flow monitoring confirmed that 10-Year storm protection from overflows and basement backups was achieved. Just as importantly, the project will serve as a model for implementing a private property I⊘I source identification and elimination program throughout the District.
