OPC ENABLED DIAGNOSTICS – ANOTHER TOOL FOR EFFICIENCY, PRODUCTIVITY AND PROFITABILITY
Abstract
Information that is accurate and timely is vital to the competitive operation of any organization. Who is the provider and keeper of this precious information? Today it may well be the IT/MIS Department as well as the Field Operations SCADA Department. The information they gather is not just related to the business and office applications anymore. An increasing number of IT/MIS departments have responsibility for field automation and control systems and the data they create as well. They must incorporate all this information into a seamless enterprise operational database. How are IT/MIS Departments integrating the data collected via automation and control systems? They are using a recognized industry standard named OPC for inter-program communications. It provides a way to move information between different programs without special programming. All your application data and now your wireless network diagnostics can be available in standard predefined I/O format. By having this information available, it can easily be tracked, acted upon, manipulated, and archived to save time, money and increase operations efficiency. Learn how these wireless network diagnostics can be used to assist in making smart business decisions as they become part of the pool of vital information already provided by your IT/MIS Department and Field Operations SCADA system.
