Abstract
This paper shows how water and wastewater utilities can improve their processes for implementing their selected capital improvement plan (CIP) projects on time and on budget. Recommended processes and tools that emerged from a 2-year AwwaRF research project that included active participation from a dozen diverse water utilities are described. Opportunities to use historical CIP performance to target resources on implementation activities that can maximize stakeholder value are illustrated.
