A Class A, EQS Biosolids Facility Success Story: Case Study of Four years of Operation and Product Distribution in Auburn Indiana
Abstract
Auburn needed to upgrade their overloaded facility and wanted alternatives to expanding anaerobic digestion and Class B land application of their solids. Less dependence on the land application permitting process and more flexibility to market their biosolids to a variety of outlets was also a goal. After reviewing many options, the city and its engineers decided to go with the N-Viro Advanced Alkaline Stabilization process that produces a Class A, Exceptional Quality product over a Traditional Class B land application program. This decision was based on a variety of factors that included the cost of equipment and personnel needed to move Class B biosolids into the small “Window of Opportunity” that is agriculture.
