Privatization and the Water/Wastewater Industry: A Comparative Analysis of United Kingdom and United States Practices
Abstract
This paper summarizes current literature and case studies that address the prospect of Water/Wastewater service privatization across the United States (US) as well as the United Kingdom (UK). It focuses on privatization of the water and wastewater industry in the UK and compares that to the experiences of the US Water/Wastewater industry. It also presents some lessons learned from these efforts as well as key considerations for municipalities or authorities when considering potential privatization initiatives.
