THE NEXT GENERATION IS HERE – O&M MANUALS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY

Project Summary Two facilities located in two states, both with the same objective – make the facility Operations and Maintenance Manual work harder. There's no question about it, the face of the facility Operations and Maintenance Manuals has changed. Initially conceived as a guidance document to operate wastewater treatment plants today's O&M manuals have become electronic reference systems with portals that share information and assist in decision making.Historically O&M Manuals were used to document the design intent of newly constructed wastewater treatment facilities to the staff that would operate them. These documents were rarely updated and after initial plant startup rarely consulted. In the ninety's the first generation of Electronic O&M Manuals (EOMs) were hard coded, fixed in nature, and typically revolved around a one time effort or a construction project. Mechanisms to update the information were a separate effort or just not done.
