ODOR CONTROL MASTER PLANNING AND BIOTECHNOLOGY APPLICATIONS AT DELTA DIABLO SANITATION DISTRICT
Abstract
In late 2004, Delta Diablo Sanitation District (DDSD), located in Antioch, California, sought to update its 1990 Odor Control Master Plan (OCMP) for its wastewater treatment plant and conveyance system, using CH2M HILL as its consultant. The steps of the master planning process were as follows: (1) Assess the status of current plant odorous emissions, and determine the approximate worst-case input of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from the DDSD conveyance system, (2) Conduct odor dispersion modeling to estimate off-site odor impacts, and (3) Produce a capital improvements program that, when completed, would incorporate improved air treatment processes and meet odor control goals.
