Abstract
The East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is required to continuously monitor the frequency, duration, and (if possible) volume of discharge from each of its five sanitary sewer/wastewater interceptor overflow structures. This paper presents the project objectives, challenges, alternative monitoring systems and components evaluated, innovative features incorporated into the design, and lessons learned to improve overflow monitoring.
