European Program Background and Lessons Learned
Abstract
Within the sixth Framework Program the EC decided to support and finance four projects entirely devoted to research, development, capacity building and technological transfer on membrane bioreactor technology for wastewater treatment. Four projects (AMEDEUS, EUROMBRA, MBR-TRAIN and PURATREAT) have been implemented in parallel and have been conducted in the period October 2005 to December 2009. Together they represent close to 50 European and international companies and institutions, collaborating the cluster “MBR-Network”. Of a total budget of about €16 million, almost €9 million is financed be the EC. The main results and outcomes of the research projects were recently presented at the “Final MBR-network Workshop”, 31 March – 1 April, Berlin 2009 (Germany).
