Implementing the First Large Scale Spatially Based Hydraulic Model in the U.S.
Abstract
The Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD) is a regional wastewater authority that serves a several counties and cities in southeastern Virginia. A hydraulic model was needed as part of a regulatory order to eliminate SSO's. The software chosen had the capability to store the model information in a Spatial Database Engine (SDE) format. After installing the modeling software and building the model came the implementation. How are we going to leverage the SDE component to the model users within the organization was the question. The answer was to review the current model practices with the older system and see if changes could be made to the process. The end result was a mix of a simplified setup that was published to the SDE server and personal geodatabase that contained system alternatives.
