Junker, Allyson

Allyson Junker is a technical lead and design engineer at Merrick & Company, Denver, Colorado. She specializes in water and wastewater treatment as well as hydraulic design of utility conveyance networks and facilities. Though new to the industry, she has worked on an several water and wastewater projects, primarily in with local municipalities in Colorado. Her project experience ranges from master planning and pipeline hydraulics to treatment facility design and expansion. Allyson earned a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the Univeristy of Missouri. She completed her undergraduate studies at Boston University. She also served in the Peace Corps in Senegal from 2010 - 2012. Allyson is a professionally licensed engineer in Colorado and Wyoming.

Abstract

Faced with rapid growth in the Denver metro area and a limited water supply, the Town of Erie, Colorado, has been innovative and forward-thinking to meet its ultimate water demands. The Town has maximized its water rights, including the implementation of a non-potable water reuse system, to strengthen its capacity and ensure a reliable supply for current residents and planned growth. The concurrent review and update of the master plans for its sanitary sewer collection and potable and non-potable water distribution utilities emphasizes the One Water approach. This paper presents results and lessons learned from the Town’s integrated master planning effort.
