Seidel, Alexander

In a previous life, Alex Seidel studied mechanical engineering, and worked as an R&D engineer in the solid waste and recycling field. After realizing there was an even smellier industry out there, he pursued a Masters in Environmental Engineering at George Washington University specializing in wastewater treatment. During his time at GWU, he worked as a research associate at DC Water's Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment facility, as a member of their mainstream shortcut nitrogen removal research team. While there, he played a key role in operating and analyzing the performance of a pilot-scale PdNA reactor.

This paper shows the drivers and implementation approach we plan to use for partial denitrification anammox (PdNA) integration in the existing nutrient removal system at Blue Plains advanced wastewater treatment plant.
