Smart pumping solutions bring relief to flood-prone Hoboken, New Jersey

While the H1 pumping station helped alleviate chronic flooding in southwest Hoboken, the city’s northwest region remained at risk – with even a passing steady rain routinely causing harmful flooding.

Once the H1 pumping station went online in 2011, NHSA commissioned a report to evaluate the stormwater pumps’s ability to prevent flooding in the city’s northwest region. “We needed a way to assess how effective the pump was at keeping the streets from flooding,” said Don Conger, facility operator for NHSA.

Asad Choudry is the business development manager for Flygt G&G, hydroturbines, and A-C custom pumps at Xylem.
