Findings of a Statewide Evaluation and the Long-Term Implications to the Future of Water Reuse
Abstract
Water reuse will play a significant role in the future of water supply. SB 536 requires the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to conduct a comprehensive statewide evaluation of the expansion of beneficial use of reclaimed water, stormwater, and excess surface water. The study will identify the primary impediments to beneficial reuse, and discusses the incentives needed to encourage more efficient reuse. The potential impacts of the study are far reaching and could significantly impact the implementation of reuse, and specifically potable reuse, not only in Florida, but in other parts of the country.
