Description: Facilitating Neighborly Growth – Fargo’s Regional Wastewater Solution
Facilitating Neighborly Growth – Fargo’s Regional Wastewater Solution
Abstract
Many municipalities that neighbor the City of Fargo use lagoons to treat their wastewater, which even though proven effective, have downfalls such as future compliance with secondary treatment standards, negative aesthetic aspects and odor issues, and occupying large amounts of developable land. Also, many of the neighboring communities have wastewater infrastructure deficiencies, issues caused by infiltration and inflow (I&I), and treatment system capacity limitations. As a result, there have been recent discussions between the City of Fargo and potential outside users about Fargo providing them with wastewater service. The Fargo Regional Wastewater Solution Project involves the planning and concept development of wastewater system improvements that would allow the City of Fargo to accept wastewater from various neighboring municipalities.
