Operational Optimization – It’s not just for Utility Plants (How the City of Raleigh is optimizing Field Operations and reinvesting savings in employees)
Abstract
As utilities across the United States face a combination of factors resulting in water and sewer rate increases, it becomes increasingly important to demonstrate to customers the value of delivered products. CORPUD is doing this by developing and implementing a strategic planning and operations optimization process that will lead to their ability to provide world class services at the lowest possible costs. The presentation will include an overview of the Strategic Plan. It will provide a summary of the operations optimization efforts, focusing specifically on recent efforts to review the collection system operations and maintenance work groups. The findings and lessons learned will be covered in detail, as well as an overview of the plan to implement and maintain change for the work groups impacted. The presentation will cover the process from the operations supervisor perspective regarding the actual impacts to the way they manage their operations and staff.
