Abstract
The mission we face today in the utilities world seems impossible at times: aging infrastructure, increasing and costly regulations, a disengaged workforce, poor economy, a customer base unwilling to blindly paying more and more for the same old “good enough” utility services of yesterday. Yet we, as utility managers are expected to accomplish the impossible year in and year out. How to do it? Let's follow the example of Jim Phelps, leader of the Impossible Missions Force on the hit TV show MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE. The same lessons he used every week to accomplish his missions can help each of us in the utilities industry to accomplish remarkable results ourselves!
