Innovative Upgrade Improves Process, Reduces Cost
Abstract
The City of Lakeland owns and operates the W. Carl Dicks Wastewater Reclamation Facility, which has experienced flows exceeding its capacity as a result of high rainfall totals. After a study of potential options, it was decided to expand the facility using innovative technology. The expansion, which was accomplished at a cost of less than 1.50 per gallon, has yielded a stable, cost-effective treatment facility which is enabling the City to meet its permit requirements.
