Inventory of Constructed Treatment Wetlands in Colorado
Abstract
Constructed wetlands have the potential to provide a low technology, low cost, easily operated treatment system capable of providing high level wastewater treatment. As such they are potentially a cost effective means of providing wastewater treatment for small communities. To facilitate a determination of the efficacy of using constructed wetlands to meet wastewater treatment requirements, the Colorado Office of Energy Management and Conservation (OEMC) undertook a program to inventory all constructed wetlands within the State, collect and evaluate available data on the design and performance of each existing system, and evaluate the data to identify relationships between climatic conditions, system design and operating parameters, and system performance.
