Abstract
To develop effective, usable, and reliable information systems for water utilities, the information systems designer must consider human-computer interaction issues to achieve success. In addition, the designer must employ emerging technologies coupled with proven system development methodologies in the course of the development to give rise to a positive result. Specifically, the designer must answer the question: “How can one best employ emerging technologies with a system development methodology that focuses on the user and usability.”The objective of this paper is to provide an overview of an integrated system development methodology (SDM) and how it is used for more effective delivery of water utility information systems.
