EPA LAND TREATMENT MANUAL UPDATE
Abstract
In 2002 the land treatment design manual was revised by Brown and Caldwell. The updates on technology prepared for the EPA in 1999 were incorporated including phytoremediation, vadose zone monitoring, new design approaches to surface irrigation, center pivot irrigation, drip and micro-sprinkler irriga tion, and capital and operating costs. Older performance data on rapid infiltration were updates by newer research results on the same technology, now referred to as soil aquifer treatment. A chapter was added on industrial wastewater emphasizing treatment of food processing wastewater. The latest information on animal waste land application was also included.
