ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH & SAFETY MILESTONE ALIGNED PROCESS (EHS MAP): A GSK VIEW OF EHS IN NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
Understanding and managing the impacts of pharmaceutical products on human health and the environment is a critical aspect of the responsibility corporations have to ensure that their products will not harm people or the environment throughout their life cycle. An important part of this can be addressed effectively and efficiently by making EHS considerations integral to new product development and supply. GSK has chosen to do this by developing and implementing a business process, imbedded in existing new product and development business processes that specifically deals with the EHS aspects and ensures that issues are addressed in a timely manner. This paper will discuss the Environment, Health & Safety Milestone Aligned Process (EHS MAP), the GSK approach to EHS in new product development.
