WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT UPGRADING: THE INCORPORATION OF PROCESS MODELING FROM CONCEPTUAL DESIGN TO IMPLEMENTATION AND OPERATION
Abstract
This paper describes the contribution of mathematical modeling throughout the upgrade period as well as the period following the process modifications at the Bridgeport WWTP. Data from a large pilot plant study were used to: calibrate the plant model; conduct a number of 'what if' scenarios to improve the understanding of the full scale plant; simulate conditions that could not be tested with the pilot plant; aid operators during the transition period and serve as an operator planning and monitoring tool for future operations.
