Abstract
It's no secret that the water & wastewater industry struggles with filling key engineering positions in a timely manner. The shortage of qualified engineering talent has become a pressing issue nationwide in the US, affecting municipalities, public utilities, privately-owned utilities and private consulting firms alike. While much discussion has already taken place regarding the similar staffing issues that the utilities themselves face, widely acknowledged to be a coming crisis, the engineering & planning side of our industry also needs to open a dialog addressing what can be done to confront this challenge.
