Surviving and Improving NBP Biosolids EMS Interim Audits
Abstract
The Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD) was the first in the nation to become certified by the National Biosolids Partnership (NBP) for their Biosolids Environmental Management System (EMS). In May 2006 OCSD completed their third-year interim audit. This year the auditor performed a process audit of the Biosolids EMS as compared to an element audit completed in previous years. This paper will describe process auditing, benefits of audits, how OCSD prepared for the third year interim audit, and provide an update of improvements realized by OCSD from their NBP Biosolids EMS.
