ABC Biosolids Land Application Certification Program
Abstract
This presentation will provide an overview of the new biosolids land application certification program that is being developed by the Association of Boards of Certification (ABC). Two levels of certification will be offered by ABC, with class I covering material required for a field operator and Class II covering material required for a manager in direct responsible charge. ABC is expecting to have the Class I biosolids land appliers certification exam ready for beta-testing in the spring of 2008. Upon completion of the program, voluntary certification for biosolids land appliers will be available through ABC's Certification Program. In addition, regulatory and voluntary program members of ABC may choose to use ABC's biosolids land applier exams to support their own certification program.ABC has been assisting both voluntary and mandatory certification programs since 1972 as part of our objectives to promote and improve certification laws and programs as a means to ensure the effective operations of treatment facilities. Since 1982, ABC has provided testing services to our members as a means to achieve our objectives. Approximately 31,000 operators and laboratory analysts take an ABC exam annually.
