Getting Young Professionals Involved

The water and wastewater operator community has made major improvements in their training and workforce issues over the past forty years. It is hoped to provide the attendees with a summary and comparison of both Old and New concepts to assist their local arena in recruitment, increased knowledge base training, improvements within their treatment process, and increase the awareness of recruitment techniques being utilized.Visual illustrations and some high quality streaming video clips will showcase some unique concepts to evaluate and incorporate into the attendee's recruitment program, along with long range planning to meet the increasing call for Baby Boomer retirees. These illustrations are examples for the attendee to evaluate incorporating into their educational program to increase the awareness of the water industry and build upon a “re-packaging” of career opportunities for young professionals and potentials related to high school career fairs. Meeting the demand for replacing the Baby Boomers are a Hot Topic and addressing these concerns through positive and creative illustrations is hoped to provide the states with the best approach to meet these demands.And lastly, a quick comparison of knowledge base improvements in distance education will be highlighted. Comments and surveys within the operator community addressing their needs in continuing education and their thoughts of knowledge base improvements will be illustrated, as they apply to increasing the efficiencies of the water and wastewater operator community will be presented
