Description: Operation and Maintenance Requirements for a Large Diameter, Deep CSO Tunnel System
Operation and Maintenance Requirements for a Large Diameter, Deep CSO Tunnel System
Abstract
Operation and maintenance (O&M) requirements for large diameter, deep combined sewer overflow (CSO) tunnels significantly differ from O&M requirements for near-surface sewers. This paper discusses unique O&M requirements for executing cleaning and inspection work in such deep tunnel systems, the requisite cost considerations, and outlines the risk mitigations associated with human entry. This paper also briefly discusses the process for executing a contract to accomplish the inspection and subsequent cleaning of the tunnel system.
