About Walker, Walt

 
Mr. Walter Walker is an Associate at Greeley and Hansen and also the firms Water Equity Practice Leader. A registered PE and practicing Envision Sustainability Professional, Walt has 16 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering and construction management. His experience includes project management, planning, design, and design services during construction (DSDC) of water, wastewater, and solid waste facilities, as well as experience in climate resiliency design, master planning, financial capability assessments, and environmental permitting. As Greeley and Hansen's firmwide Water Equity Practice Leader, Walt works with utility leaders across the nation to accelerate equitable water management and policies and collaborative community-focused programs. This is accomplished through a water equity lens which ensures all people have access to clean, safe, affordable water service, maximizes the community and economic benefits of water infrastructure investment, and fosters community resilience in the face of a changing climate. Water equity strategies have focused in the areas of community engagement and collaboration, climate action planning, regional collaboration and shared services, contracting and procurement (supplier diversity, MWBE utilization), and workforce development. In 2021, Mr. Walker was selected to the US Water Alliances Imagination Team of 35 diverse experts from across the sector to tackle water's role in climate mitigation and set a strategic pathway for greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions. This team includes representatives from water associations, utilities, academia, consulting firms, environmental organizations, equity leaders, rising One Water professionals, and artists. In October 2021, Mr. Walker will also facilitate and lead a half-day interactive workshop at WEFTEC 2021 titled Transforming into Communities of the Future through Water Equity. Mr. Walker also serves as Chair of the NY Water Environment Association's (NYWEA) Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee. Walt has been a member with EWB-USA since 2006, having served in leadership positions including Philadelphia Professional Chapter president, New York City Representative, and Chair of the EWB-USA Council of Regional Presidents. His EWB-USA project experience includes water supply and sanitation design in Malawi, El Salvador, Guatemala, and the Philippines; and community green work in Philadelphia, PA and New York City.
