The Seduction of Depth-only Measurement for I/I Work
Abstract
New depth-only technologies are finding their way into three areas of sewer flow metering; 1) 'chasing I/I', 2) combining with AV meters as 'micro-metering', and 3) conversion of a network of AV meters to depth-only devices. This paper will provide real-life case studies of how depth only data has been applied to these three uses and is written from the perspective of the person responsible for managing the performance of a collection systems through sewer flow data. It includes an evaluation by Citizens Energy Group (Citizens) in Indianapolis of using depth only data to locate sources of I/I.
