Description: Technical Innovations at the Albert Robles Center (ARC) Advanced Water Treatment...
Technical Innovations at the Albert Robles Center (ARC) Advanced Water Treatment Plant
Abstract
The Albert Robles Center (ARC) for Water Reuse and Environmental Learning is a recently completed Advanced Water Treatment Facility (AWTF) designed to produce 10,000 acre-feet per year (12.3 Mm3/y) to be used to recharge the local groundwater basin. Feedwater for the project is tertiary treated wastewater provided by the Los Angeles County Sanitation District (LACSD). The treatment train at the ARC AWTF includes the following: • Diversion Structure • Equalization Tank & Pump Station • Strainers • Ultrafiltration (UF) System • Reverse Osmosis (RO) System • Ultraviolet Light Advanced Oxidation Process (UVAOP) • Post Treatment Decarbonator and Chemical addition • Product Water Tank & Pump Station • Three Onsite Injection Wells and Monitoring Wells This paper will focus on the technical advances of the project and how they apply to water and wastewater operators.
Steve Tedesco is a Design Manager with over 30 years of experience completing complex Water, Wastewater and Water Reuse Treatment Facilities. His experience includes both conventional project delivery and alternative project delivery such as Design Build and Design Build Operate projects. Previous projects that he has been involved in are the Orange County, CA Groundwater Replenishment System Phase 1, Pure Water Oceanside Project, and the subject of this presentation the Albert Robles Center (ARC) for Water Reuse and Environmental Learning. His presentation will focus on the technological advances of the ARC facility.
