Description: MS4s and Missouri Stream Team Program Partnerships
MS4s and Missouri Stream Team Program Partnerships
Abstract
Missouri has a strong partner for outreach and education activities. The Missouri Stream Team Program is a working partnership of citizens who are concerned about Missouri streams and two state agencies. Funded and staffed by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Stream Team Program has been around for over thirty years and has thousands of volunteers around the state. The Stream Team Program provides an opportunity for all citizens to get involved in water conservation through clean ups, water quality monitoring, storm drain stenciling, watershed restorations, and more. The program is citizen-based with program staff providing training, supplies, and expertise at no charge to help with stream projects and information. These activities are a natural fit to help MS4s reach their education and outreach requirements. Not only does the Stream Team Program help many Missouri MS4s with education and outreach, but also benefits many other elements in MS4 programs and increases resident awareness of stormwater issues.
