Investigating Odor Control Needs in the Honouliuli Sewer Collection System Service Area – A Case Study
Abstract
The paper will present detailed basin wide odor monitoring data collected at potential odor hotspots (such as WWPS wetwells, force main discharges, inverted siphons, and steep sewers entering flat sewers). Condition assessments of the existing WWTP odor control systems and covers will also be presented. Challenges to establish fenceline odor containment and control at key locations will be described. The preliminary odor monitoring data used to prioritize improvements, select alternatives, and establish design criteria that will be used in the study will be presented. The paper will present preliminary monitoring results, descriptions of visual inspections, and considerations used to select improvements to mitigate odors will be described.
